Saying goodbye is hard sometimes. Twenty years ago Chuck and Gael moved from Chicago, Illinois to our beautiful state of NC. They custom designed and oversaw the building of this amazing lakefront house. They quickly made it their home. Chuck passed away last October. Gael intended to remain in their home alone and continue her life in this gorgeous setting.
As time went on Gael realized that even though she was in her mid 80’s she had many more years of enjoyment and purpose ahead. So, I put her home back on the market and opened the door for her to move closer to and help care for her newest grandchild.
During the time I worked with Chuck and Gael I watched two people honor the vows they had made so many years ago as if it was yesterday. They carried out their committed to love each other and cherish the time they had through whatever may come.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to know them, laugh with them, cry with them and to just walk with them on this journey. Sometimes, saying goodbye is hard.
